    Tiger Sharks,

I hope you enjoyed your free weekend. Those don't happen every year.  We do have a swim meet this Satruday, May 28th. This is our last week of school.  Summer Practice times start Tuesday, June 7th.

    Coming Up This Week

This weekend, May 28th we HAVE A SWIM MEET.  Saturday, May 28th, is a HOME MEET against Inverness Estates, aka Willow Forest, aka Wipeouts.  As per our last meet you will need to arrive, check in and get your swimmer's numbers.  Our check in time has changed to  6:30 AM.  Our warm up time is 7:00 AM.  Being on time for the warm up is important for your swimmers, because it is the only time they will be able to get into the pool to practice before their events.  Just after warm ups the coaches start scratching swimmers that are not yet checked in.  If you do not want your swimmer scratched from the meet then you need to be on time.  Scratching a swimmer means taking them out of the meet all together, once they are officially scratched they cannot be added back. As always during a swim meet you cannot park in the parking lot unless you are an official or have a handicap tag/plate.  Recap - When you arrive at the pool, DO NOT PARK IN THE PARKING LOT, find the Check In Area/Person and highlight your swimmer's name, write their numbers on their forearm and all swimmers 10 and under write their last name on their back right shoulder blade area.

Our team sets up around the pool area.  The opposing team, Inverness Estates, will be setting up in the grass area behind the pavilion.  We ask that you do your best not to set up chairs under the pavilion, of course if there is no room else where then you don't have much of a choice. Under the pavilion is the ready bench as well as the walk way for ready bench and Inverenss Estates.  Also, if you do not have a canopy, you may ask someone if you can share their space.  Most of the time the swimmers are going to be in either your space or someone else.  Just be sure that if you share a space with someone, you help each other out by paying attention to which kids are in which event so you can shove them off when their event is called.

With any home meet we have Set-Ups and Take-Downs.  We require YOUR HELP to do this. You are required to do three to maintain your volunteer requirements.  The pool is halfway set up already from the pervious meet. We will be setting up on Friday, May 27th at 5:00 PM.  Since most of it is set up already, we don’t expect many of you to be able to help with this one.  If you can be there to help, it is very welcome.  You will need to be sure to check in with the Volunteer Coordinator, Sabrina Michalsky.  Same applies for the take-down.  The take-down happens immediately following the end of the swim meet.   If you have already left the pool because you have a young swimmer and you completed your volunteer session, you can come back to the pool to help.  Unfortunately, I cannot give you a time of when that will be.  Your best bet is to give your number to someone you know who will be staying till the end and have them call or text you just before the meet ends.

Since this is a home meet, we will have concessions.  You can bring your own food and drink.  No glass bottles are allowed.  We do not take credit, please have cash.  Our concessions are awesome.  We have sausages from Kiolbassa, sold only at HEB and pizza from the awesome Mr. Jim's Pizza.  ***We will also have shaved ice and ice cream from Tikiz in the parking lot for our next two home meets.***

If you you've been to any meet, then you understand the need for VOLUNETEERS.  Without volunteers we cannot run the meet.  This is why we ask you to pay the $100 volunteer deposit.  Though your children come to practice and swim you are required to help them shine by helping run the swim meet.  We require volunteers from both our team and the opposing team.  The volunteer coordinator will walk around during practices to get you to sign up.  If you would like to see what is available before, I come around then you can visit the link below to sign up.  You only have 3 more regular swim meets and 1 divisional meet left to meet your volunteer goals. If you have any questions or concerns about meeting your goals, I can help you figure it out, please come talk to me.

    Other News

The summer schedule will start Tuesday, June 7th.  Until then practices remain the same.   We will let you know by June 3rd what the new times will be.  For our newbies, when school is out and summer has officially begun the neighborhood opens the pool to the public.  We cannot have practices during the evenings once that happens, so we have to practice before the pool opens to the public in the mornings.  The coaches will get together and set up times and I will let you know as soon as I do.  The pool officially opens to the "public", residents, on June 4th.  The pool will be open this weekend for the holiday weekend but not open during the week days until after June 4th.

We will not have a Ribbon Ceremony this week, we can hand ribbons out during practices or you can wait until for the next one on June 6th.  We are not having the ceremony because it is a holiday weekend.

During practices the grassy area is sometimes open so that our rambunctious little ones can run around.  We are okay with them having balls in that area, but we DO NOT want to see children climbing fences to get their balls or hitting the fences with the balls.  We also ask that you please let your children know to not mess with the table umbrellas.  If an adult wants to use the umbrellas, then we ask that you please close them and put them back the way you found them, if we have access to them.

We have a few extra current team shirts for sale, not many, not a whole lot of size choices.  We also still have previous year shirts for sale and should have swim caps available for purchase as well.

Thanks to all that came out and made our team picture a great success.  We should have them back in about two weeks.  I will bring them to practice as soon as we get them back.

Please see the attached Newsletter and flyer from Tikiz.  You can also find them on our home page under Links. As usual, please feel free to contact me by text or email with questions or concerns.

    Thank you,

    Sabrina Michalsky
