Tiger Sharks Weekly Newsletter
05/10/16 - 05/16/16
Tiger Sharks,
I first want to give a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all who came out and volunteered during the Mock Meet last Friday. Your efforts were noticed and greatly appreciated.
There are some that have not yet paid their registration fees or volunteer deposit. If you know you have not paid your registration fee or deposit, we ask that you please come see us this week about paying your fees.
Coming Up This Week
This weekend we have our first Home Meet. Saturday, May 14, you will need to check in at OUR POOL at 7:00 AM. EACH swimmer is required to check in. There will be a check in table near the entry gate to the pool. There will be pages with our swimmers names listed in alphabetical order. When they find their name, they need to circle or highlight their name. Recap - When you arrive at the pool, DO NOT PARK IN THE PARKING LOT, find either the Check In Person or your swimmer name on the papers and circle or highlight your swimmer's name. Please see the attached newsletter for more detailed information.
Our team sets up around the pool area. The opposing team, Foxwood, will be setting up in the grass area behind the pavilion. We ask that you do your best not to set up chairs under the pavilion, of course if there is no room else where then you don't have much of a choice. Under the pavilion is the ready bench as well as the walk way for ready bench and Foxwood. Also, if you do not have a canopy, you may ask someone if you can share their space. Most of the time the swimmers are going to be in either your space or someone else. Just be sure that if you share a space with someone, you help each other out by paying attention to which kids are in which event so you can shove them off when their event is called.
With any home meet we have Set-Ups and Take-Downs. We require YOUR HELP to do this. You are required to do three to maintain your volunteer requirements. The pool is halfway set up already from the mock meet. We will be setting up on Friday, May 13th at 5:00 PM. Since most of it is set up already, we don’t expect many of you to be able to help with this one. If you can be there to help, it is very welcome. You will need to be sure to check in with the Volunteer Coordinator, Sabrina Michalsky. Same applies for the take-down. The take-down happens immediately following the end of the swim meet. If you have already left the pool because you have a young swimmer and you completed your volunteer session, you can come back to the pool to help. Unfortunately, I cannot give you a time of when that will be. Your best bet is to give your number to someone you know who will be staying till the end and have them call or text you just before the meet ends.
Since this is a home meet, we will have concessions. You can bring your own food and drink. No glass bottles are allowed. We do not take credit, please have cash.
If you were at the mock meet you understand the need for VOLUNETEERS. Without volunteers we cannot run the meet. This is why we ask you to pay the $100 volunteer deposit. Though your children come to practice and swim you are required to help them shine by helping run the swim meet. We require volunteers from both our team and the apposing team. The volunteer coordinator will walk around during practices to get you to sign up. If you would like to see what is available before, I come around then you can visit the link below to sign up.

Other News
We understand that we have many new swimmers this year. We ask that the family of the new swimmer please stay off the deck, or away from the pool during practices. Your swimmer can get distracted and the coaches want their full attention. Please allow your swimmer to have the most out of this experience with their full attention to the coaches instructions. We ask that family of the swimmers please stay away from the pool. You can stand to the side to take a picture or two, but we ask that you do not interact with them while they are in the water with the coaches.
Individual and Team Pictures are just around the corner. On Monday, May 23rd will be picture day. You are not required to buy a team or individual picture, but we do ask that every single registered swimmer attend. The photographer will be taking individual pictures from 5 to 6. At 6:00 PM we need all swimmers there to take the team picture. The photographer will stay later after the team picture to take more individual pictures if necessary. You can combine your swimmers into one photo. I have three swimmers and I have all three of them take one picture. Order forms are available now, just see me during any practice.
Usually we have a ribbon ceremony on either Sunday or Monday following a swim meet to give the swimmers that have placed their ribbons. We are not sure if this will happen on Sunday or Monday. We will let you know during practice for sure when and where it will be held later in the week.
Next week is a new week. Practices continue at the same time and same place, Tuesday thru Friday. Please see the attached newsletter for the week. I handed one out to most of you during practice on Tuesday. As usual, should you have any questions or concerns please email or text me.
Thanks,
Sabrina Michalsky
Team Secretary & Volunteer Coordinator
