Tigersharks,
There are only two more swim meets until divisionals. Wow the season is going fast. This week we have our HOME meet against Birnam Woods/Fairfax and the mid-season invitational, Summer Champs, congratulations to the 32 swimmers who are entered into the meet.
I have sent out emails to all of those who are going to Summer Champs. It is too late to enter now, but I think all who have qualified have been entered.
Coming Up This Week
This weekend Saturday, June 6th is our last home meet. With home meets we have Heat Sheets and with heat sheets we have swimmers ads. If you would like to place a swimmer's ad you MUST SEND ME THE INFO TODAY, I need it by 6:00 pm Thursday, June 4th. Half page ads are $5.00 and full page ads are $10.00. They are printed in full color, and yes you still have to purchase a heat sheet during the meet. They are usually only $2.00.
Also with home meets we have Set Up and Break Down. We need your help getting the pool area ready. REMEMBER YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DO 1 SET UP AND 1 TAKE DOWN to meet your volunteer requirements. So if you did not help last home meet you better help now, this is your last opportunity to do so. Set up will begin at 6:30 PM Friday, June 5th. Break down will begin immediately following the end of the swim meet. Make sure Mrs. Donna Pounds writes your name down so you get credit.
As usual, check in at the check in table by highlighting your name if someone is not there check you in. We are adopting a new technique used by Livingston. We would like to make sure that not only are the swimmers numbers written on them but also their name. Please put all 10 and under's names on their right back shoulder.
Check in at 7:00 AM. Warm up at 7:30 AM. Meet begins at 8:30 AM.
Also, don't forget to do your volunteer shift. TIMERS please remember the importance of asking the swimmer their names. It was better during the Livingston meet, but believe it or not we still had as situation where a swimmers time was not written in. If your timing and scribing please ask. A tip, when I use to time and scribe. I would ask all the swimmers behind me their names and check them on my list before they swam. That way I was ready, if they were in the chairs behind me. Ready bench people, find a system that works for you. Hopefully there are four of you. One of you coral the swimmers, one of you put them in their positions on the ready benches, one or two of you take them to their proper sides of the pool to their proper lanes and one of you can even stay by the chairs and make sure they know to move up and what lane they are in. Just suggestions. Our last home meet was running smoothly from what I was told before the big bad weather came along.
Other News
Thank you all that were able to make it to the team picture. It was a great success. We had 84 of 116 registered swimmers show up for the picture. In the printed news letter I posted a picture of last years team photo compared to this years photo (though my photo was not so good, a bit dark), and it's amazing to see how much our team has grown. The photography company is going to thank us for rescheduling by getting us our pictures back on Friday. I'm hoping to have them before practice starts so I can hand them out. If not I will have them with me during the meet on Saturday. I can't wait to see them.
Our ribbon ceremony is canceled for this week. The coaches are not available to hand out ribbons because they have to be at Summer Champs with our qualified swimmers. We will hand out ribbons from this upcoming meet and ribbons from our next meet against North Spring next Sunday, June 14th. Of course, if you really don't want to wait that long or you don't go to the ribbon ceremonies, you can ask me during practice to bring them.
As usual, should you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to answer. Attached is the printed newsletter.
Thanks,
Sabrina Michalsky
Team Secretary
